Final Project Producing a Magazine
For my final project im going to produce a A4 magazine cover similar to magazines such as Front, Baseline, Rocksound and NME magazine. My magazine will be based around current Teenage and Young adult trends i.e. clothes, music and funny sarcastic images. I think this will give a broad target audience as all of these ideas relate to a lot of people, I think this will relate to my work as I have always had a grungy style and I could easily make this project relate to my strengths rather than weaknesses. Inside my magazine I want to have a lot of graphic/mark making skills involved.

For my research for this project im going to look at current magazines and other brochures relevant to my target audience such as Kerrang magazine and other products, websites and book to get a general idea of what is already out there, another important part of my magazine is advertisement as every magazine has some sort of adverts inside or the selling of products inside it such as t-shirts demos and freebees.

Most of the techniques I hope to use will be mostly Photography based with a mark marking effect, using lots of graphical touches for backgrounds and layouts. I hope to use mainly Photoshop, Illustrator and In design as my programs because they all help to create the aspects and formats of a magazine I intend to make. I will spread the use of the programs over the 12 weeks we have been given. Starting with the first 3 weeks doing research into what is already out there, the next 4 weeks will involve a lot of initial ideas and thumbnails, the next 2 weeks will include reviews and peer assessments on my work to gain an idea of where I am and what I can improve, and the last 3 weeks will involve perfecting my chosen ideas into actual magazine produces.
I hope to mainly work on paper for my magazine but I will use other materials such as card and plastic for my effects like mark making and backgrounds.

To analyse my project I will use Peer assessments throughout and use them to improve my work offering other examples and ask them to compare and chose which ones the prefer and work on perfecting those ideas so I know im working to my target audience. Apart from doing this I will evaluate my work as I go along making sure im keeping to my brief and not straying far from my ideas, other ways I can do this is by comparing my work to other magazines and work that’s already out there seeing what ways they have made and designed the magazines without plagiarising other peoples work.
